Our SociAbility Connections provide an avenue for MVPs to be in a comfortable environment where they can develop lifetime friendships while doing activities, enjoying meals, and/or dancing the night away! The socials are open to tweens, teens, and adults with disabilities, as well as local buddies in order to promote inclusion & meaningful friendships.

Enjoy a moment of REST while the Ability Tree Team hangs out with MVP. We understand that you as the parent/caregiver need a moment to breathe, so while your MVP is having a blast with us, you can go enjoy some time to yourself.

Space is limited so please RSVP/pre-register. This is not required, but be aware that once the spots are filled, we can’t allow more to enter. There will be a waitlist available online in case of any cancellations. If you are not able to register because all spots are filled, please put your name on the waitlist! The waitlist is through the RSVP link below.

FAQs

What are the ages allowed?

We welcome youth in grades 6th – 12th and adults ages 18+.  Sometime the events are broken into 2 times (one for youth and one for adults). Other times, we have one large social!

  • If your MVP is still in high school (deferred diploma & finished with 12th grade), we request he/she attend the adult social.
  • If your MVP is age 18+ & still a junior/senior in high school, we would like you to make the best decision on which social they will attend.

Will food be served?

We serve snacks & drinks. We will offer alternative dietary food options, if requested. As mentioned above, the $5 covers the food and drinks. If it’s an evening event, we serve a light dinner.

We WILL BE serving dinner for our end of year social (spaghetti with/without meat sauce), and have snacks & drinks. Snack options include chips, popcorn, fruit (apples or grapes), pretzels, & cookies. We will offer gluten free food options, if requested. As mentioned above, the $5 covers dinner, snack, and drink. Additional snacks can be purchased for 50¢/each.

What can my MVP bring to the event?
If your MVP requires medications, adaptive equipment, etc., you may bring it. For medications, you’ll check it in at the registration table the night of and give directions to the nurse or assigned staff. Medications must be in the original bottle for us to accept.
Can the parent remain at the Social? What about those who have supported living or group home support staff?

It is highly recommended that parents not remain in the Social room. This is a time of respite for the parents – have a break! Take a moment to breathe. We have staff and multiple volunteers/friends who will be engaging and making sure our MVPs are safe and having a blast!! We also want this to be a time for our teens & adults to make connections with others outside the family. However, if you’re not comfortable leaving and you’d like to stick around, then you are welcome to.

If you are support staff for someone in supported living or a group home, then we understand you will remain in the Social room with your individual(s).
